OBITUARY-
Edward O. Bakke, 93 of Austin, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at St. Mark's Lutheran Home, Austin.
He was born May 31, 1907, at Crookston, the son of Olaf and Christina (Galstad) Bakke.
He attended grade school in Dunvilla and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Dunvilla.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and AA.
He was a farmer and married Olive Bernice Tukua Oct. 18, 1930, at Pelican Rapids. After their marriage, the couple moved to southern Minnesota and in 1940 to Austin. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in October 2000.
He worked for a number of employers and retired from Halett Construction.
His hobbies were fishing, trapping, auctions, reading and playing cards with his family.
Survivors include wife Olive B. Bakke, Austin; daughters and sons-in-law, LoEtta and Robert Bjoraker, Austin; Eleanor Johnson, Austin; Darlene and Raymond Kyllo, Hayfield; sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Deanna Bakke, Austin; Edward Jr. and Virginia Bakke, St. Peter; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; four sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; a great-grandson; son-in-law, Vernon Johnson; two sisters and six brothers.
Service: 3 p.m. Monday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Kristin K. Wee officiating. Organist: Neal Erickson and soloist, Kaye Perry. Honorary casket bearers: Karen Weber, Faye Learn, Judith Thiesse, Renae Hellerud, Joyce Bakke, Cindy Ostrem, Debbie Evenson, Carolyn Jungers, Sarah Joyce. Casket bearers: Steven Bjoraker, Mark Bjoraker, Keith Johnson, Michael Johnson, Dustin Bakke, David Bakke.
Interment: Grandview Cemetery, rural Austin.
Visitation: 4-7 p.m. today at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary and one hour before services Monday.
