Shirlene “Shirley” Holt Ellis
1940 - 1996

Early Life: Shirley was born on June 23, 1940, in Payson, Utah. Following the divorce of her parents, Joseph Alma Holt and Annis L. Call, Shirley was raised mostly in Orem by her father and her stepmother, Ellen "Irene" Nielson Holt.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: In 1958, Shirley married Lavon Loynd, with whom she had three children: Ricky, Cindy and Timothy. She married Dennis Skoy in 1976, with whom she had two children: Danielle and Nichole, they were living with her, in Provo, at the time of her death. In 1993, Shirley married Clark Ellis. Shirley moved 60 times in her life. In order to support her children, she worked as a café waitress, beautician, pharmacy clerk, department store cashier, door-to-door salesperson, bakery attendant, medical receptionists, rest home head cook and day-care mother for many children. She also studied at Brigham Young University and served in church callings wherever she went. In her later years, stress and health problems made it difficult for Shirley to work as hard as she had for most of her life. But right up until the end, she was always striving, progressing and lifting others. Her special gifts to others were her native cheerfulness and her forgiving heart. Shirlene "Shirley" Holt Ellis passed away Friday, March 30, 1996, on a trip out of town.
