BOTH ARE SOCIAL LEADERS.
Engagement Announced of Miss Alice Barnard of New York and Mr. Frank Seabury of This City.
The engagement is announced of Miss Alice Barnard of 21 W. 21st St, New York, and Mr. Frank Seabury of this city. This engagement is especially interesting to the Wenham hunting set, to members of the Somerset and Country Club and is of general interest to the social circles of Boston and New York. Miss Barnard is the daughter of the late Judge Barnard. One of her sisters married Col. Alfred Wagstaff of New York, and the other Mr. Raymond L. Ward of the same city. She has lived with her sister, Mrs. Ward, at Beverly Farms, for several years, in order to follow the Myopia hounds, where Mr. Seabury met her. Miss Ward is a very good whip, and "crosses a country so easily and quietly that many a good man" would be envious of her.
Mr. Seabury was one of the founders of the Myopia Hunt Club and for 10 years master of hounds. He was one of the first to join the Country Club on its organization in 1882, and he has been one of its leading spirits in fostering the steeplechasing and hurdle racing features at Clyde Park, where the club holds its annual meetings. His enthusiasm for and participation in the running here, as well as his thorough horsemanship when following the hounds, have by the unanimous consent of his associates promoted him to a first place in the consideration of these and kindred affairs. He has an engaging quietness of manner which wins the respect of all and especially endears him to his intimates. The management of the horse show held in this city a year ago was in Mr. Seabury's hands, and proved highly successful, and he has the direction of affairs pertaining to the exhibition which is to begin April 19 in Mechanic's building. Mr. Seabury is the senior member of the State St. firm of brokers, Frank Seabury & Bro. He received his training in finance in the house of Lee, Higginson & Co.
