William R. "Bill" Gouker, 77, of Shawnee, died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013, at his residence.

He was born May 30, 1936, to William "Bill" Gouker and Annie (Winkelman) Gouker in Meeker.

Bill was raised in the Meeker, Prague area and attended Prague schools.

He married the love of his life, Velma (Cole), on Sept. 20, 1958.

Bill retired from Montgomery Wards on disability.

He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, and was one of the best gardeners in town.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Diane Stehno, a son: Russell Gouker, in-laws: Henry and Myrtle Cole, a brother: Frank "Shorty" Gouker, and a sister: Phyllis Gouker Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Gouker, of the home; granddaughter, Julie Meder and husband, Daniel, of Yukon; great-grandson, Clint Meder of Yukon; four brothers, Troy Gouker of Campbell, Calif., Jerry "Dub" Gouker of Bethany, Kenneth Gouker of Seminole, and Joe Paul Gouker of Shawnee; sisters, Emma Wilson and Lillie Rose of Shawnee; brother-in-law, Joe Cole; sisters-in-law, Irene Burrahm, Imogene Mays, and Thelma Alfery; and many other extended family members and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Crosby and Gary Kasterke.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 31, at Liberty Baptist Church with Bro. Bill Matthews and Bro. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Gable Cemetery.
