Mrs. Mozelle Cannington Powell, age 81, of Lyons, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Rhine and was a 1958 graduate of Dodge County High School in Eastman where she also played basketball.  She briefly lived and worked in Warner Robins and Tattnall County before moving to Toombs County in 1968.  She worked at Ft. Stewart and Edwin I. Hatch Plant before working at Bowen Seed Farm, retiring as office manager after more than twenty years.  She was a member of Hammond's Baptist Church of Lyons, and she enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, jigsaw puzzles, and the Y&R.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Leonard Powell, Jr.; two children, Jeffery Powell and Becky Powell Dreggors; parents, Jesse Cannington and Barbara Harrell Cannington; and three siblings, Claude Cannington, Carson Cannington, and Jessie Lee Cannington Rigsby.
