John B. Brandeberry was born 17 Jun 1852 to Phillip Brandeberry, Jr. (1812-1876; FAGM# 22403782) and Mary Burns (1820-1875; FAGM# 26028849). He was raised in Bloom Township, Wood County, Ohio. On 30 Jun 1877, he married Mary E. "Lizzie" Frederick (1856-Before 1883). She was born in Jersey Township, Licking County, Ohio.

John and Lizzie had two daughters, Bertha M. (Webb) (1878-1949) and Minnie F. (McClure) (1881-1940). Lizzie unfortunately died as a young mother in or before 1883 because on 30 Sep 1883, John married his second wife, Lydia K. Kistler (1860-1947) in Newton Falls, Trumbull County, Ohio.

Lydia was born and raised in Newton Township, Trumbull County, Ohio and was the daughter of Samuel Kistler (1827-1898; FAGM# 57019969) and Catharina Fiester (1825-1891; FAGM# 57020002).

John and Lydia had four children: Samuel B. (1884-?), Beryl B. (1885-1954), Kathryn (1891-1980; FAGM# 111231292), and John B., Jr. (1893-1953). In 1899, John and Lydia lived and worked on their 191 acre farm in Newton Township according to the 1899 Tax Map. In 1916, he bought an additional 62 acres for his son Beryl from L.C. Hipple.

According to "Images of Newton Falls", Edward P. Sinchak, 2011, reports that on March 5, 1890, John B. and Lydia Kistler Brandeberry, moved from Wood County to the farmhouse located at 2456 East River Road with four children. Another child was born at the farm in 1891. Between John and his eldest son, Beryl, they owned 253 acres and raised Berkshire hogs and short horn cattle. John served as a Newton Township Trustee (1892-1897) and was a member of the Odd Fellows. A daughter, Kathryn, lived in the home until her death in 1980. The structure remained relatively unaltered in appearance over the decades and was razed shortly after her death." Kathryn never married. Mr. Sinchak does not mention John's first wife, Lizzie, but undoubtedly the two girls bore by Lizzie lived with John and Lydia at the farmhouse (see picture) in Newton Township, Trumbull County, Ohio.

According to Edward P. Sinchak, local Architect, the Brandeberry Home is an "example of old Greek Revival architecture (and) was formerly owned by Elijah Medley".
