Mrs. Anna E. Heryford, 93, mother of Mrs. L.W. Kays, 1511 S. 32nd, died at 5:30 a.m. today following an extended illness. A resident of the McCune area for many years, Mrs. Heryford came to Parsons about a year ago to make her home with her daughter.

She was born Oct. 24, 1865, at Mt. Pleasant, Pa., and when a girl united with the Church of the Brethren. The family moved to the Fredonia area and on June 29, 1887, she was married there to Samuel H. Heryford. In 1904 they moved to a farm eight miles north of McCune.

In addition to the daughter here she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Ethel Barnett, Olathe, Mrs. Nora Gaddis, Winfield, and Mrs. Vada Nicholson, McCune; one son, Omer, McCune; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, but services are to be at McCune, the time to be announced later by the Shigley Funeral Home.

The family has asked that friends, in lieu of other remembrances, make contributions to The Cedars Home at McPherson maintained by Mrs. Heryford's church.

Services for Mrs. Anna E. Heryford, 93, who died yesterday, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Osage Church of the Brethren, northeast of McCune, of which she was a member. The Rev Hodgden, church pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Osage Cemetery. The body was taken to the Shigley Funeral home at McCune today to await the funeral hour.

At the age of 92 years, Mrs. Anna Elizabeth Heryford died Tuesday morning at 5:30 in a home in Parsons, where she has been cared for a short time.
The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Osage Church of the Brethren, of which she was a member, and burial took place in the Osage or Buxton cemetery, where her husband is buried.
The service was conducted by Rev. Ralph Hodgden, pastor, of the church, under the direction of the Shigley funeral home. Gerald Zuck, soloist , accompanied by Mrs. Goldie Millard, sang "Abide with Me," and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.: Pall bearers were: Francis McElwain, Glenn Turney, Raymond Jackson, Ike Pierson, Joe Ragains and Marriott Wylie,
Mrs. Heryford was born Anna Elizabeth Horner October 24, 1885 in Mt, Pleasant, Pennsylvania. When young she moved with he parents to Ohio, and later to Fredonia, Kansas, where she was married June 29, 1887, to Samuel H. Heryford
The Heryford family came to the community northeast of McCune in 1904, and lived on different farms for a time but for many years the family home was the place now occupied by Mr. and Mrs. O.L. Heryford east of the Osage Church of the Brethren, She united with the Church of the Brethren when a small girl in Ohio, and worshipped in the Osage Church for many years.
Mr. Heryford died February 15, 1952. After his death, she made her home with her children in different communities and for some time lived in the Church of the Brethren home in McPherson, Kansas. Her last residence was with her daughter, Mrs. Leonard Kays in Parsons, where she lived approximately a year. She haas been in failing health for sometime, and had been a patient in the rest home a short time.
Survivors include one son, O.L.Heryford, who lives on the home place and retired as superintendent of the McCune schools less than two yeas ago; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Barnett of Olathe; Mrs. Nora Gaddis of Winfield, Mrs. Vada Nicholson of northeast of town on route one, and Mrs. Myrtle Kays of Parsons. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
