Mr. J.W. Wilbanks, 61, of Cartersville passed away Friday, October 10, 2008 at the Cartersville Medical Center. Born November 28, 1946 in Bartow County, he was the son of the late Betty Mae Wilbanks Jacobs and the late James Willis Jacobs.

He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Cathy Wimpy, Nancy Jacobs, and Sally Jacobs.J.W. had been a truck driver most of his life. He loved westerns and collected knives and guns. J.W. especially enjoyed joking and cutting up with people. He was known to have a very good sense of humor. J.W. also enjoyed cook outs and never wanted to be far from home especially when he was driving trucks.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Brenda Wilbanks of Cartersville; his children, Wayne Wilbanks of Knoxville, Tennessee, Donna and Mark Gibson of Taylorsville, Beth and Richard Williams of Cartersville, and Michael and Chasity Wilbanks of Summerville; his grandchildren, Nicole Webber, Justin Wilbanks, Keith Webber, Donovan Williams, Kyle Gibson, Jestin Ballinger, and one grandson due next month, James Wilbanks; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Stella Williams of Piedmont, Alabama, Mary and Ralph Childers of Cartersville, Linda and David Thompson of Dallas, Polly and Junior Williams of Rome, Tammy and Glen Haynes of Cartersville, and April Townsend of Rome; his special friends, Harold and Shirley Akins; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rev. Ronald Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Cassville Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Williams, Corey Childers, Mark Gibson, David Thomson, David Shook, Chris Emerson, and Seth Wade. Honorary pallbearers will be J.W.s grandsons, Justin Wilbanks, Keith Webber, Donovan Williams, and Kyle Gibson; and Harold Akins and Ralph Childers.
