Harold E. Schroegler, 71, of Santa Fe died Tuesday at St. Vincent Hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Schroegler was born Dec. 14, 1915 in Mobile, Ala. He was a rancher in Texas before and after World War II.

He retired in 1976 as a security inspector with the Los Alamos Atomic Energy Commission and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife,Virginia Schroegler of Santa Fe; two daughters, Phyllis Adams of Santa Fe and Robin Davis of Missoula, Mont.; and one granddaughter.
