Mr. A. Charles Wellman, 74, of Paloma, died at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday (November 2, 2005) in Blessing Hospital.

Born January 29, 1931 in Quincy, Charlie was the son of Alfred W. and Lillian Brocksieck Wellman. He married Shirley Beckman on July 28, 1957 in Quincy.

Charlie was a member of the Paloma United Methodist Church, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and he enjoyed bowling. He devoted his life to his family and was a loving father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Mr. Wellman served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. A 1949 graduate of Quincy High School, Charlie was employed for over 30 years at Crabby's Upholstery where he became a certified Master Craftsman Upholsterer. Following his retirement, he opened Charlie's Auto Trim which he operated for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Curtis and her husband Douglas of Paloma and Sherry Parsons and her husband Mark of Perry, MO.; three sons, Kent Wellman and his wife Kimberly of Quincy, Kevin Wellman and his wife Karen Ruth of Fowler and Steve Wellman and his wife T. J. of Quincy; seventeen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, V. Lowell Wellman and his wife Patricia and Loren E. Wellman and his wife Ruth both of Quincy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wellman was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10:00 in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home by Rev. Scott Swigart. Burial with Military Honors by Payson V. F. W. Post 2061 will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 and Saturday morning until the time of services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Paloma United Methodist Church.
