She was born in North Fond du Lac and later the family moved to the Campbellsport area. Her parents were farmers and it was a life she enjoyed. So many of her fondest memories and stories revolved around the family farms, even long into her alzheimer’s years.
She attended St. Matthew’s grade school and graduated in 1937 from Campbellsport High School. She went on to continue her education at St. Agnes School of Nursing in Fond du Lac. She received her Registered Nurse degree in 1942. As a registered nurse, she worked in Sheboygan, Milwaukee, Fond du Lac and West Bend, to name a few.
She met Franklin G. Lord and they were married on May 1, 1945 at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Campbellsport. They moved to West Bend where Franklin worked for the White House Milk Company and she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She continued working until her first of six children was born in 1947. She then stayed home to raise her family.
She enjoyed her craftiness. Besides helping out at Holy Angels School and Church, she did very well for herself in painting, ceramics, sewing, knitting and lots of beautiful crocheting. She kept up with her love for music until the day she died.
Her husband unfortunately died too young. She then went back to work in the intensive care unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she worked until she retired.
