Longmont Times-Call - 25 August 2013

James Arthur Cary of Longmont, CO passed away at the Longmont United Hospital on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at age 76, due to a long battle with Cancer. James was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on December 18, 1936 where he grew up, attended school and then enlisted in the Navy.

After the Navy, James moved to Longmont working as an Engineer for more than 30 years at IBM and StorageTek, then in retirement, found a second home at the Longmont Athletic Club, greeting the members four evenings a week. He always looked forward to going to the club to visit with his friends and touched everyone he knew with his kind heart and sarcastic, playful personality.

Jim was preceded in death by an infant son, his parents, Nell and James Cary of Fort Collins and his sister, Shirley Andersen. Jim is survived by his wife, Kathy; 2 daughters, Christene and Dana; 3 sons, Brett, David and Richard; his brother, Lowell (Susie); sister, Vickie Lee (Bobby); brother-in-law, Lee Andersen; numerous grand children and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Jim loved to fish, play softball on the senior leagues, spend tme with his family, watch the Broncos and Rockies with a cold beer in his hand.

His wishes were to not have a funeral service but to have a celebration of life. The family will be hosting an open house celebration at the Longmont Athletic Club upstairs in the lounge on Friday, August 30th from 5:30 - 9:30 for anyone who would like to come share a story and meet the family.
