On August 1, 1925, Dorothy married Jacob G. Olson at Britton. They farmed in the Lake City and Hillhead, South Dakota areas for a number of years. Later, they moved to the Walton Thorp farm near White Lake and retired to Britton in 1957. At that time, Dorothy worked as an aide, and later worked as a surgical aide in the Marshall County Hospital, a job she held for several years. After retiring from the hospital, Dorothy continued working as a home health aide for several people in the area. Jake (Jacob) died on August 7, 1974 and Dorothy continued to make her home in Britton.
Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Britton, and had been active in the ladies groups there. She was always willing to lend a hand in any of their projects. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Britton, and had been a charter member of the Fun After Fifty group. Dorothy loved to keep her hands busy, and had embroidered several pillowcases and baby blankets. She also did beautiful crochet work, Dorothy was an avid card player, and enjoyed pinochle, whist and canasta.(bio added by Aritha buss)
