Buck was born March 31, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Gladys(Cardenas)Brown. He was raised in Des Moines. At the age of seventeen Buck enlisted in the United States Navy. Following his service to his country, he and a friend began bear wrestling within the fair circuit. While doing a perfourmance at the Putnam County Fair he met Kellie. In 1980 he began his twenty five years with Laborers Local #177 out of Des Moines, Iowa. During his career he primarily poured concrete and built high rises.
On June 6, 1977 Buck married Kellie Strode in Numa, Iowa and to this union, three children were born, Sarah, Phillip, and Nathan. Buck and Kellie were married for thirty six years.
Buck had a passion for playing pool and often competed in pool tournaments throughout the Midwest. He also enjoyed fishing and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. In most recent years he pursued a hobby of restoring old trucks. He was very proud of his red 1941 Chevy.
He is survived by his wife, Kellie Brown of Numa, Iowa; son, Phillip(Stephanie Young)Brown of Des Moines, Iowa; his grandson, Ace Joseph Guy Brown of Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law, Tina(Tug)McMahon of Centerville, Iowa; four sisters, Zip(Randy)McDaniel, Deborah Senne, Kelly Cockerham, and Kim(Dennis)Brandt all of Des Moines, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Ann Brown; infant son, Nathan Brown; and daughter, Sarah J. Brown.
Funeral services with military honors will be held 1 pm, Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Pastor Jack Engle officiating. Burial will follow in the Numa Cemetery, Numa, Iowa. A visitation will be held all day Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 5-8 pm Tuesday evening. Memorials have been established to the family.
