Roy Herbert Neher
McCUNE- Roy Herbert Neher, age 88, of rural McCune, died Friday at the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita from injuries received from a car accident earlier near Leon.
He was born June 3, 1894, on a farm southwest of McCune, the son of D.P. and Mary Neher. He graduated from McPherson College in 1922 and taught school in Enterprise, Lucas, and Covert.
He then moved to Oswego and operated a chicken hatchery and returned to his farm home in 1965.
He and Wave Long were married June 1, 1927. She survives at the home. He was a member of the Osage Church of the Brethren.
Surviving with his wife are four sons, Dean Neher of Bridgewater, Va.; Gerald Neher of Anna, Ill.; Lyle Neher of Grundy Center, Iowa; and Doyle Neher of Hutchinson; two sisters, Mrs. Lota Mohler and Miss Edna Neher, both of Topeka; and 16 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 Tuesday in the Osage Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Thomas Shoemaker officiating. Burial will be in the Osage Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 7 to 8 p.m. today in the Brenner Chapel in Pittsburg.
