His parents were Amable Jacques born in Cap-St-Ignace, Quebec, Canada to Pierre-Noel Jacques and Elisabeth Lemieux and Catherine (died Aug 1835 L'Acadie) Roy/Roi born to Alexis Roy and Marie-Ann Tessier.
