Leola Nelle "Nin" Welsh, 86, of Grantsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998, in Minnie Hamilton Health Care Center.
She was born in Five Forks, the daughter of the late John and Beulah Metz Whipkey. She owned Welsh's Diner, Grantsville, worked as a cook in the Calhoun County school system and in the Foster Grandparent Program at Pleasant Hill School. She attended Five Forks Community Church and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Marva Barker of Grantsville and Leona Boggs of Parkersburg; four grandchildren, Guy F. Boggs, Jr., of Vienna, Myra Boggs West of Parkersburg, Doug Boggs of Five Forks and Billy "Biff" Barker of Grantsville; six great-grandchildren, Amber, Nathan and Brianna Boggs of Vienna, Kirk Stump of Parkersburg, and Misty and Kayla Boggs of Grantsville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Clarence" Welsh, in 1972; three brothers, Ralph Whipkey, Brady Whipkey and Johnny Whipkey; and three sisters, Hope Kawalski, Geraldine White and Hila Collins Barr.
Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Carroll McCauley officiating. Burial was in Nobe Cemetery.
