Charles W. McCammon, 65, 1718 E. 17th St., died unexpectedly at Ball Hospital at noon Monday, apparently as the result of a heart attack. He was born in Sullivan, spent his early years there, and came to Muncie in 1937.
Mr. McCammon was employed at Delco Battery for 38 years prior to his retirement in 1974. He attended Riverview Church of the Nazarene, was a member of Delco Remy Sympathy Club, and was a former member of UAW Local 489.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Nixon McCammon; two daughters, Mrs. Sue Jester and Mrs. Steve (Jennifer) Mansker, Muncie; three sons, Joe McCammon, Ludwigsberg, Germany, and Philip and Christopher McCammon, both of Cowan; four sisters, Mrs. Kathryn McGlone of Terre Haute, Mrs. Alice Meeks or Pompano Beach, Fla., Mrs. Marjorie Thomas and Mrs. Evelyn Williams, Sullivan; five brothers, William McCammon of Bloomfield, Robert McCammon of Monroe, Mich., Max McCammon of Muncie, Jackie McCammon of Huntington Beach, Calif., and Jerry McCammon of Brazil; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Meeks Mortuary. Rev. Keith Kelly will officiate. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday or prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
