The son of William Lee Connelly and Timpie Rosana Gardner, he moved to Marshall Co., Oklahoma before 20 Jan 1907 when he married Mattella G. Parrish. C. W. Connelly and Mattella had five children but four of them died young.
Charles Wesley Connelly's first wife, Mattella along with daughters Hazel and Wenfred perished in a tragic house fire in 1922.
Daughter Rosa Lee died in 1926 at age 16. Daughter Beulah M. Connelly Sawyer died in 1948.

He married Ruby Elizabeth Stallings, in 1928 in Albany Oklahoma.
Ruby was the daughter of John Benson "Red John" Stallings born 14 September 1857 in Smith Co., Tennessee and Emily Christiana Ligon born 15 November 1863 in Smith Co., Tennessee.
Their son Charles William Connelly Sr. is buried in the Albany Cemetery in Albany, OK.
