OBITUARY-
Mary Ann Nelson, 75, of Austin, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at Adams Health Care Center.

She was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Nevada Township, to Ole and Ella (Asklakson) Dahle.
After graduating from Rose Creek High School, she completed normal training in Austin. She later earned her bachelors degree from Winona State. She began teaching in a one room school house North of Austin and later in a one room school north of Lyle.
On Aug. 6, 1950, she married Merle Nelson at Little Cedar Lutheran Church in Adams.
After taking a few years off to raise her children, Mary Ann returned to teach at the Dexter school. When that closed she taught remedial reading in the Adams school, then finished her career as a third grade teacher at Southland Elementary in Rose Creek. She retired in 1984 after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
She was an active member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church where she was choir director, Sunday school superintendent, and active with the Ladies Aide.

Survivors include husband, Merle Nelson, Austin; sons, Mark (Michelle) Nelson, Kent, Wash.; Neil (Leslie) Nelson, Richfield; Bryce (Kellie) Nelson, Rose Creek; daughter, Lori (Dale) Siegfreid, Austin; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 11, 2003, at the funeral home and Wednesday at the church for one hour before the service.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church with The Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Casket Bearers will be Brock Nelson, Adam Nelson, Steve Nelson, Robert Nelson, David Nelson, David Gilderhus.
Interment: Six Mile Grove Lutheran Cemetery, Nevada Township.
Funeral Home: Adams Funeral Home, Adams.
Memorials: To The National Parkinson Foundation, or Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church.
