Leslie Austin Mahan of Idalou passed away on Friday, June 29, 2007, at the age of 90.
He was born on Jan. 3, 1917, in Gonzales, to Marshall Lee Mahan and Lillie (Slape) Mahan. He served in the US Army during WWII. Leslie married Frances Marie Ford on Sept. 30, 1941, in Ardmore Okla. They moved to Idalou in 1960. He worked as a supervisor in construction and retired in 1980.
Leslie was preceded in death by his wife, Frances, in 1984.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Lonnie Austin Mahan, Lester Allen Mahan, and Bobby Lee Mahan, all of Lubbock, Elbert Ray Mahan of Belfair, Wash., and Ronald Dale Mahan of Joplin, Mo.; daughters, JoAnn Jones of Salt Lake City, Utah and Carolyn Hass of McAlister, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Delbert Blevins and a sister, Letha Fair, both of Ardmore, Okla.
The family will gather at the Lubbock Co. Precinct 3 Clubhouse at 7th and Chestnut in Idalou from 8 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday, July 2, 2007. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 2, 2007, at Idalou Cemetery, with Tracy Buse officiating.
