Stanley Duane Chapman, age 69, of Mosherville, passed away, August 21, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Battle Creek.

He was born on October 28, 1943 in Hillsdale, the firstborn son of Beatrice Jane (Manning) Chapman and Stanley "Duane" Chapman.

Stanley married Edith Hakes on February 14, 1979 in Concord, Michigan at the historic Mann House built by his wife's great-great grandfather and she survives.

Stanley was a 1961 graduate of Jonesville High School and also a graduate of Ferris State University, receiving degrees in surveying and engineering.

Stanley proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, receiving two purple hearts.

He was employed with Consumers Energy for nearly 40 years.

In addition to his wife, Edith, Stanley is survived by two sisters, Belinda (Jim) Frantom and Mickie Chapman, ; his favorite aunt, Rosemary Chapman ; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew; step-son, Timothy Byrum of Mosherville and step-daughter, Lynette Beth Stone (Gregory) Cormier of West Palm Beach, Florida.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Vicky Chapman and a brother, Roger Chapman.

At Stanley's request, cremation has taken place. Stanley wished for no calling hours or services, but rather a gift in his memory may be made to any of the following: the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Mosherville Ladies Aid Society, Jonesville United Methodist Church, the Humane Society or the Salvation Army.
