She was born March 24, 1909 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James Penn and Alice Stinebruner Penn.
She is survived by her husband, K.E. Birkhead; a son James A. Birkhead of Guston; a sister, Helen Birchfield of Riverside, California; two brothers, Walbert Penn of Ballardsville, Kentucky and John Penn of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held from the Chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Shacklett officiating. Interment was in Rock Haven Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Tony Bunger, Leslie Stith, Mike Berry, Bill Gerkins, Ed Lay, Chester Singlrton and Francis King.
