Walter was my grandfather. We affectionately called him "Pop". He married my grandmother, Dorothy Margaret McGurty, on November 29th, 1934 at St. Philomena's Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They had three wonderful children. He was the owner and operator of his father's business- the M.J. Spellman Tile Company where he carried on his father's legacy until his death.
Walter was a devote Catholic serving each Sunday as an usher at St. Philomena's Church. He was also a member of the St. Paul's Retreat House, Southside, Pittsburgh.
Walter died at his home surrounded by his wife and children.
He was 64.
