Mrs Martha Alexandre "Mattie" (Harvey) Swift was born on March 30, 1856 in Montgomery County, Tennessee, the daughter of William M Harvey and Susan (Batson) Harvey.

She was married in 1880 to Robert Dean "R D" Swift (1854-1905), the son of Thomas Jefferson Swift (1821-1899) and Emily Carrie (Crockett) Swift (1824-1893).

Mattie passed away on June 19, 1938 in Montgomery County, Rural Route 2, out towards Cumberland Furnace, which is in Dickson County. Burial was in W M Batson Cemetery, Montgomery County.
