David R. Jones, 77, of Harrison, Ariz., and formerly of River Falls, died April 4, 2001.

The son of David C. and Eileen (Lindgren) Jones, he was born Dec. 30, 1923, in Fargo, N. D.

Mr. Jones graduated from River Falls High School. He served 30 years in the U. S. Army and served in three wars: World War II, Korea and in Vietnam. Some of his military honors include: a Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge 2nd Award and others. He retired as a Sergeant Major.

Mr. Jones also worked in the UW-River Falls postal department and was a long-time treasurer of the River Falls American Legion VFW post.

On May 17, 1997 he married Rena Fay (Reagan) Williams Jones in Cotter, Ariz.

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Tommie L. (Reagan) Jones; sister, Audrey Jones; and brothers: Emery, Kermit and Wendell.

He is survived by his wife, Rena; stepchildren: Billy Williams and Christine Burleson, both of Harrison, Ariz.; brothers: Grant Jones of Petaluma, Calif., and Lyndon (Mavis) Jones of New Ulm, Minn.; stepgrandchildren: Zachary Burleson and Joel Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held April 7 at Cashman Mortuary with Pastor Jenny Arneson officiating.

Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Billy Williams, Tom Jones, Peter Jones, Bob Jones, Kenneth Jones and Randy Jones.
