Virginia (Gray) Ackerman Turner, 83, of Greenwood, SC, died Friday, August 19, 2005, at Wesley Commons.

Born in Belton, SC; she was a daughter of the late William Adger and Irene Brown Gray. She was twice married, first to the late Marion W. Ackerman and then to the late William Turner.

A graduate of Furman University, she was owner and operator of Highway 25 Drive-In, a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Lawton Sunday School Class and taught first grade Sunday School with Peggy Cheezem. She was a member of the Homebound Circle and former Circle Leader, the Greenwood Women's Club, the Lotus Garden Club, and enjoyed traveling around the world.

Surviving is a daughter and son in law, Ronney and Joan A. Smith of Greenwood; two sons and daughter in laws, Dr. Steve M. and Peggy Ackerman and Dr. W. Gray and Kelly Ackerman, all of Greenwood; six grandsons, Ed, Andy and Wilson Ackerman, all of Charleston, Furman Corley, Gray Ackerman Jr. and Brandon Smith all of Greenwood; three granddaughters, Carrie Ackerman of Charleston, Anna Ackerman Connolly of Grovetown GA and Kristen Smith of Greenwood; dedicated caregivers, Tiny Rush and Grace Adams.

Services were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005 at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James D. Dennis Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Memorial Gardens
