Dell was born near Douglass, Texas and spent his younger years in Orange, Texas while his parents worked in the shipyard during WWII. After the war ended, his family moved to Nacogdoches where he attended Nacogdoches High School. Mr. Waggoner worked for Northern Indiana Brass Company (NIBCO) in Nacogdoches for 54 years and became the longest serving employee in NIBCO's history. Dell was a selfless individual who made his family his only true hobby. He enjoyed spending time with his wife Loretta, listening to country and gospel music and working in the yard for hours on end. Early married life found him fishing and camping with his buddies, Robert Dean and Nolan Alders. While he wasn't really interested in hunting and fishing, he made a point of introducing both sons to all kinds of outdoor activities including off-road motorcycling, waterskiing, hunting, fishing and camping. He served for years as Scoutmaster for Scout Troop 109 and treasured his time influencing young men. Dell loved spending time with his family and friends, making many close friendships with his fellow employees at NIBCO. He loved his Lord and Savior and as a Christian, was a believer in Christ, ultimately holding every position except for the pastorate during his church life.
Dell is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Alders Waggoner; sons, Rick Waggoner and wife, Kay of Dallas, Texas, Randy Waggoner and wife, Teresa of Lufkin; three grandchildren, Damon Waggoner, Jeremiah Henry and Jenae Henry; one grandchild, Wesson Mecham.
He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Irena Rogers and Idella Rogers.
