Son of James Abbott and Margaret Coffrin, born Benjamin Franklin Abbott. After his father died in 1884 he was reared by his brother James Abbott. He married Ms. Alma Elva Hanson Nov 2 1899 in Ormo, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota and they had one child before his death, Roland Leroy "Roy" Abbott born in 1901 in Ormo, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota.
