Mrs. Patience Sisson, who has been ill about six weeks, died at her home in this village Monday afternooon, Aug. 21, soon after one o'clock. Mrs. Sisson was 80 years of age on Aug. 10th, and had always been in good health until taken sick early in July. Death was caused by paralysis. She was the daughter of George and Hannah Allen, and was born at the Five Corners west of this village. She was one of thirteen children, one of whom survives her, Mrs. Jane Williams, of LeRoy. She was married in 1848 to Alonzo Curtis Sisson, who died Aug. 28th, 1884. Eight children were born to them, six of whom are now living: Frank Sisson, Mrs. J. W. Hoard, Mrs. M. B. Greene, of Alfred; Mrs. Ida E. Babcock of Westerly, R. I.; Mrs. T. J. Bardeen of Richburg; and Charles Sisson of Muskegon, Mich. A son, Charles, died when four years old, and a daughter, Flora Vernette, died in 1880. Mrs. Sisson was strictly a home woman, and was never so happy as when doing something for some of her children, or some neighbor who was sick or needed assistance. She was a great lover of nature and always had many flowers around her. She was a thoroughly conscientious good woman who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. The funeral was held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Greene, Rev. J. L. Gamble officiating. Interment in the Alfred Cemetery.
