Herbert L. Jones, Sr., 82 or Blair died Monday, April 6, 1998, at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Chapel of the Good Shepherd in Blair. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born May 29, 1915 in Gretna to Herbert L. and Blanche (Wallace) Jones. He attended school in Desoto and farmed in the Desoto and Arlington area until retiring in 1975. He then moved to Blair, where he lived at the time of his death. On Dec. 24, 1934, he married Margy L Wilderson in Papillion. He joined the Army on March 20, 1944, and served with the 30th Infantry Division known as Old Hickory. They fought from Normandy to the Elbe. He received the Bronze Star and Purple for wounds received in Germany on Nov. 25, 1944.

He was a member of the Blair Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Blair American Legion Post.

Survivors are his son and daughter-in-law, a daughter-in-law, six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister and a brother

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margy on Nov. 27, 1997; a son Herbert Jones Jr.; and a brother, Wallace Jones.
