CHERRYVALE - A. Dick Elliott, a former production foreman for Gulf Oil Corp., died at 6:30 a.m. today in an Independence nursing home. He had been in failing health four years.

Elliott was employed for 37 1/2 years by Gulf Oil, in Kansas and Oklahoma. He retired in 1956 and moved to Cherryvale in 1960. The home is at 216 West 2nd.

He was born on Feb. 12, 1891, in Troy Mills, Iowa, to William H. and Alice Long Elliott. The family moved to Cowley County in Kansas in 1893.

Elliott and Della Graham were married on April 16, 1916. She died in 1955. He and Opal Barnard were married in October 1959 and she survives, at the home.

Also surviving are one son, Dale, of Wichita; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Chapman of Tulsa and Mrs. Alice Tower of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Mrs. Audie Goolsby of Tulsa; seven grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Two sons are deceased.

Elliott was a member of the 60 Club in Independence, of Towanda Masonic Lodge No. 30 for 35 years, of a Gulf retiree group in Seminole, Okla. and a member and trustee of the First Baptist Church in Cherryvale.

Arrangements for services will be announced by the Wayne Darling Funeral Home here. In lieu of other remembrances, a memorial in his name has been established at the First Baptist Church here.
