First marriage Amelia Woolfe, after her death in 1818, he married Catharine Gordon. The son of Joseph Flautt the and Anna (Mary) Maria Flad, his mother's parentage not established. The family is regarded as German descendants.

The family homestead of Joseph Flautt and his wife Anna (Mary) Maria Flad is described as near present day Littlestown on the "other land" belonging to Flautt. This evidently was the second farm, bought from the heirs of McCreery, near Littlestown, and named Mt. Pleasant. This land touched the lot deeded to the Conewago Chapel Basicilia Catholic Church, giving an acreage of 359 acres in what now certainly must be the land on which the western end of Littlestown, Adams County, PA. was later built.

(2.) Mary Ann Flautt, married Jeremiah Daniel Brown. (3.) (3.) Catharine "Katie" Flautt, first marriage John Buhrman, after his death married Peter Bowman.
(4.) Hannah Flautt, b, 1808 married Joshua Seiss.
(5.) George W. Flautt, b. 08 March1810 , d 28 October 1901; married Elizabeth Clugston.
(6.) Samuel Flautt, b. 1816, d. 24 December1909, he married Mary Wills.
(7.) Jacob Flautt, Jr., died infancy.
(8.)Elizabeth Flautt, married George Sleasman.
