Served with the 53rd Georgia, Infantry CSA. He was Wounded at Antietam (also known as the Battle of Sharpsburg), one of the bloodiest battles of the American Civil War, fought on September 17, 1862, between Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia and Union Gen. George B. McClellan's Army of the Potomac, near Sharpsburg, Maryland and Antietam Creek.
April 6 1865 Captured at High Bridge Virginia.
June 26 1865 Oath Of Allegiance signed.

Mrs. Addie E. Greer has a CSA pension application on line in the GA Archives under Jones County. She gives proof of marriage to Leonard F Greer on 11/30/1880. She says he enlisted in 1862 and served with Company K of the 53 GA Infantry. He surrendered at Sailors Creek, Va with his unit in 1865 and died in Atlanta in Dec 1896. Proof of her own death on 9/4/1927 is included in the paperwork. She does not seem to be on Findagrave as yet.
