Born in Great Bend, Pa., Mr. Herbert died Thursday in the Syracuse Veterans Administration Hospital after a brief illness. He served in the Army from 1949 to 1953 and had been employed as a wireman at the Court St. plant of General Electric Co. five years. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church, Solvay.
Mr. Herbert is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Mitchell Herbert, a former resident of Canastota; a daughter, Denice Marie Herbert; three brothers, Donald P., Homer, and Roger Herbert of the U.S. Navy, his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Horton of Susquehanna, Pa. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today.
