Caroline Mary "Cora" (Dick) Shore was born to parents Adam Dick and Mary Lovice Pomeroy in Groveland Township, LaSalle, Illinois.

Cora's family moved to Goshen Township, Stark, Illinois and became neighbors with the Shore family. Cora married her childhood sweetheart, William Thomas Shore on 16 Sept 1868, according to a family heritage document.

Cora gave birth to her first child, Winfred Thomas Shore, on 18 Sept 1869.

Cora gave birth to her second child, Cora Mary Shore, on 17 Aug 1871.

Caroline Mary "Cora" (Dick) Shore died 2 Sept 1871, sixteen days after giving birth to her second child, most likely complications from childbirth, and she was taken into the loving home of her Maker.

Cora's children were taken into the loving homes of the Shore family, with Winfred Thomas at age 2 years, going into the loving home of his Grandmother, Mary Ann (Brandenburg) Shore-Baker, and baby Cora at age 2 weeks, going into the loving home of her Aunt Louisa Cedelia (Shore) Winn.

Cora's headstone reads: Cora, wife of W.T. Shore, Died Sept 2, 1871, Aged 18 yrs, 8 mos, 7 days.

Cora's memorial shows clasped hands, and:
"FAREWELL
She was a kind and affectionate wife,
a fond mother, and a friend to all"

Her headstone is joined with Winfred's headstone, and another Shore headstone. Although baby Cora is not marked to be buried there, it is believed the young daughter, who died short of her 2nd birthday, is also buried there under the Shore headstone, together with her brother, Winfred, who died short of his 18th birthday and mother, who died when she was 18 years of age.
