Mrs. Lillian Wilson Suddreth, formerly of Koinonia Apts, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2013 after a period of declining health.

Lillian was born on September 3, 1922 in Morganton to the late John Robert Wilson and Lillie Segal Wilson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James M. Suddreth. They were married for fifty years and James was the love of her life. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Wilson, Pauline W. Hill, Louise W. Webb, Lola W. Baker, Myrtle Bass Breidenback, Hattie W. Johnston and Eunice W. Kowolkowski; brothers, Hal Wilson, John Wilson, Robert Wilson and her son-in-law, Dennis Martin.

During WWII Lillian worked for the Civil Service at the Norfolk Navy Yard in Virginia. After the war she lived in Asheville and graduated from the Asheville Beauty School. She owned Hair Care Beauty Salon and worked as a cosmetologist until she was eighty. She was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church for over fifty years. She loved her church and her church family. Lillian was a member of the Eastern Stars Hibriten Lodge No. 262 and was a past Worthy Matron and recently received her 50 year pin.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Diane Suddreth Martin; her cherished granddaughter Jessica Martin Wilson and husband Andy and her only great grandson Lawson; her brother and sister-in-law Jessie and Peggy Suddreth; brother-in-law Jay Suddreth; sisters-in-law Maude Suddreth and Ruby Woods. Lillian is also survived by a very special friend Wanda A. Baker and many cherished nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Lower Creek Baptist Church. A graveside service will be held immediately following in the church cemetery with the Reverend Bert Blackburn officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the outstanding staff of Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at Kirkwood. Their kindness and support during this time was invaluable and unforgettable.
