Ludie Aurora Mammen was born October 13, 1925 in Navarro County, Texas to Albert and Lillie (Burnett) Edmonds. She was baptized and confirmed at Central Baptist Church in Pampa, Texas. Ludie graduated from Pampa High School in Pampa, Texas.
Ludie married Merle Henry Mammen on November 19, 1944 in Lubbock, Texas. She has resided at Redwood Falls, Appelton, Montevideo, Bird Island and Olivia these past many years.
Ludie was a member of both the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and her bible study group at Cross of Calvary Church. She had been the Director of ACTS for many years, retiring in 1997, and was the founder of Camp Joy for the mentally challenged.
She had enjoyed baking, cooking, collecting owls, doing ceramics camping at Kandi Park #1, playing cards, visiting with people, traveling to California, watching the Minnesota Twins and spending time with her family.
Ludie has resided at the Golden Living Center this past nine months and she died there on Monday, September 15, 2008.
Ludie is survived by her four children: Ben (and Deborah) Mammen, Merlene (and Darnell) Bratsch, Aundria (and Tim) Manuel and Cindy Tyo; her eight grandchildren Darin (and Stacy) Bratsch, Damon Bratsch, Heather (and Gregg) Teisinger, Keegan (and Shelly) Mammen, Kristen (and Ben) Egge, Erin Manuel, Stacie Manuel and Amanda Tyo; and her nine great-grandchildren: Kristi Bratsch, Kya Egge, Abigail Teisinger, Kyron Mammen, Jennifer and Holly Bratsch, Halle Egge, Caedance Egge, and Ethin Mammen.
Ludie was preceded in death by her father Albert Edmonds, her brother Alfred Edmonds, her husband Merle H. Mammen, her stepfather, Earl Griffin, her mother Lillie Griffin, and her son-in-law David Tyo.
