Frances was the daughter of Andrew Maurer, Jr. and his wife Emmaline Hane Maurer. Her first cousin, Cordelia Maurer, was the first wife of John J Beers of Emporia, Florida. Her aunt and uncle Dr. William H and Cordelia Maurer DeLong were also living in Emporia, Florida and around the time of Cordelia Beers' death, her father moved the family from New York to Florida. John and Frances married in 1906. They had two daughters, Mildred and Dorothy. John had contracted TB, probably from either Cordelia or her sister Estella Maurer. He died in 1913. Frances then died of TB in 1917. Her daughters were also sick and went to Tucson, Arizona to a TB sanatorium there.
