Dorothy was the youngest child of John J Beers and second daughter with his wife Frances Maurer Beers. Dorothy contracted TB and after the deaths of her father in 1913 and mother in 1917, she and her sister Mildred were sent to a TB sanatorium in Tucson, Arizona. She never recovered and died there in 1926.
