Sarah is the daughter of James McMillan and his wife,Martha Cooper whom were orginally from Virginia but Sarah moved to Kentucky with her brothers and was united in marriage on 8 Sep 1800 in Pendleton Co.,KY. to Thomas Hawkins where they became parents of eight children:

The description for Sarah Polly McMillan states that, "Sarah is the daughter of James McMillan and his wife, Martha Cooper...." . however James was born in 1770 and Martha in 1775, 9 and 4 years before Sarah respectively. From the records I am finding, I believe that Sarah is James' sister and the daughter of Robert McMillan (1750-1840) and his wife Phoebe Stansson (1745-1815).
