Sylvia "Syb" Hubbard, 97, of Lubbock, formerly of Littlefield died August 14, 2013 in Lubbock.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013 in Hammons Memorial Chapel, Hammons Funeral Home, 503 E. 5th St., Littlefield. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park. Arrangements by Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the funeral service.

Sylvia "Syb" Jewell Richardson Hubbard was born September 11, 1915 in Marlow, Oklahoma. She completed her journey here on earth and went home August 14th, 2013. She grew up in the Saddle Mountain area of the Wichita Mountains. She moved to Bula, Texas at the age of 17 in 1933. She married John Hubbard in 1934 and they settled in the Bula area where they farmed and raised two daughters.

Sylvia worked for many years in her brother Dink's grocery store. Later she worked as a postal clerk in the Bula Post Office. While in Bula, she was very active in the Bula Booster Club, The Farm Bureau, and the local Church of Christ.

In the early 90's, she moved from Bula to Littlefield where she resided until February of 2004. While in Littlefield she was involved in the Crescent Park Church of Christ, where she was a member. Due to health issues, she moved to Wedgewood South Assisted Living Center where she remained and was cared for until her death.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, two brothers, Edward and Dink and her sister Maudena Claunch.

She is survived by her daughters, JoAnn Oldfield of Lubbock and Wanda and Richard Stanley of Levelland; sister, Mary Ewing of Claremore, Oklahoma; brother, John and wife LaNora of McDonald, New Mexico; granddaughters, Kim Oldfield of Lubbock, Jacque and husband Adam Reinhart of Lubbock, Shannon and husband Ron Davis of Liberal, Kansas; great grandchildren, Josh, Elizabeth and Juan Reinhart and Tim and Sarah Davis along with numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the wonderful staff of Wedgewood South, especially those in the Aberdeen Unit and Hospice of Lubbock for their tender love and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of Sylvia Hubbard to New Mexico Christian Children's Home; 1356 New Mexico Highway 236; Portales, New Mexico, 88130.
