Oscar Richardson Dies Last Night

Oscar Richardson, aged 72, passed away at a local hospital at 7:45 p. m. Wednesday following a lengthy illness.

A resident of Van Winkle for the past year, Mr. Richardson was a former resident and prominent citizen of Flora. He was a retired farmer, and a member of the Franklin Baptist church of Madison county. His wife preceded him in death by five years.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Adele Wilson, Van Winkle, and Mrs. Freeland Gale of Jackson; four sons, S. L. Richardson, Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, J. V. Richardson, Atlanta, Warrant Officer Houston H. Richardson of Fort Knox, Kentucky, and Everett E. Richardson, Saudi, Arabia; two brothers, John Richardson of Byram, and Perry Richardson of Bolton; two sisters, Mrs. Edna Cox of Canton, and Mrs. Alice Walker of Bolton; and a number of grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at the graveside in the Cox cemetery, near Brownsville, with the Reverend Herman Milner, pastor of the Van Winkle Baptist church, officiating.

The body will lie in state at the Baldwin funeral home until noon Friday, at which time it will leave for the cemetery.
