Delorres Dean "Dee" Hightower, age 72, of the Moran Lake Road, Rome passed away on Tuesday afternoon, August 13, 2013 in a Rome hospital.

A native of Ryan, Oklahoma, Dee was born on November 10, 1940, the daughter of the late Darius and Ora Helen Adams Coats. Dee attended Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Texas and had been a resident of Rome since 1963 moving here from Savannah, Georgia. Dee was a member of the North Rome Church of God, where she was a member of the choir and the Harvesters Bible Study Class. Dee received an Associate Degree from Floyd College and for a period of time was associated with Coosa Baking of Rome. For several years Dee and her husband, Chuck operated an Allstate Insurance Agency in Rome. Dee was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Gerri Hightower (50905346), by a brother, Don Coats(30624524) and by her Mother-in-law, Alvira "Granny" Hightower(50513554).

Survivors include her husband, Charles M. "Chuck" Hightower, Sr. to whom she was married on April 19, 1958; 3 sons, Mark Hightower and his wife, Gwen of Rome, David Hightower and his wife, June of Rome and Jayson Hightower and his wife Amanda of Rome; 8 grandchildren, Josh, Jimmy, Dalton, Levi, Wyatt and Jakson Hightower, Amy Raybun and Amber Lindley; 2 great-grandchildren, Beau Raybun and Sam Lindley; 1 sister, Jo Ellen Shedd of Corpus Christi, Texas. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Delorres Dean "Dee" Hightower will be held on Friday afternoon, August 16, 2013 at 1 o'clock at the North Rome Church of God with the Reverend Jerry Gilliam and the Reverend Will Clonts officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot of Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.

Dee will lie-in-state at the church on Friday from 12 noon until 1 o'clock.

Dee will remain at Fred Talley's Parkview Chapel where the family will receive friends this (Thursday) evening from 7 until 9 o'clock. At other hours they will be at the residence.
