Physician's father Will Be Buried Tomorrow From Son's Home

Charles Welles Bixby, 80, prominent resident of this city for more than 50 years, and father of Dr. Edward W. Bixby, died yesterday morning at 8:30 at his home in the Riverside Apartments after a week's illness.
Mr. Bixby was born in Wyalusing, December 15, 1854, the son of the late George M. and Jane Mary (Welles) Bixby. He was graduated from Lafayette College with the class of 1876 and shortly thereafter moved to Wilkes-Barre, where he lived since. In 1883 he married Anne B. Davis, who died in 1916. Two children were born of this union, Mrs. Robert F. Carpenter of Cleveland, Ohio, and Dr. Bixby of this city, survive.
In 1896 Mr. Bixby resigned his position with the People's Bank to form a connection with his uncle, Edward Welles, as secretary, which was dissolved by the latter's death in 1914. Since then he has been treasurer of the Edward Welles estate. During his active business career he held other positions of trust. He was treasurer of the Glen Summit Association and Glen Summit Company and for six years was treasurer of the Wyoming Valley Historical and Geographical Society. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and for many years a member of the board of deacons.
Besides his son and daughter, he is survived by five grandchildren. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at 11 from the home of his son, Dr. Edward W. Bixby, 292 South Franklin Street. Rev. Dr. Paul S. Heath will officiate. Interment will be in Hollenback Cemetery.
