Lila Snuttjer

Lila Reisser, the daughter of Alfred and Marie (Storm) Reisser, was born near Archer, Iowa on July 1, 1909.

She came to Sanborn at the age of 11 and received her education in Sanborn, graduating from Sanborn High School in 1928. She received a two-year teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College and taught for five years in the Sanborn area.

Lila was united in marriage to William E. Barker on June 15, 1936 and to this union three children were born.

Bill and Lila's married life was spent in Sanborn were the Barker family owned and operated Sanborn Telephone Company where Lila served as telephone operator for many years.

William died on November 25, 1957. On May 12, 1984,

Lila was united in marriage to Edward Snuttjer at Sanborn, Iowa.

Ed died on July 4, 1989 and Lila later resided at Prairie View Home where she died on November 5, 1991.

Lila is survived by three children: William C. and Janaan Barker of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jean and Kenneth Boerhave of Ashton, and Carol and Paul Karlin of St. Joseph, MO., her stepchildren: Ronald and Joyce Snuttjer of Lincoln, Neb. and Harlan Snuttjer of New Platz, N.Y., grandchildren: William S. and wife, Kimberly Barker, Steven, Karin, and Matthew Barker; Clint and wife, Julie Boerhave, Brian and Wade Boerhave, Kerry and Shawn Karlin, Beth, Brett and Robin Snuttjer; two sisters: Verna Reisser of Sanborn and Mrs. Sadie Bruns of Sibley; and one brother, Alfred Leroy Reisser of Orinda, Calif.

he was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a long-time member of the Twentieth Century Club and the W.M.B.'s.
