He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Mutispaugh served in Guam and Okinawa during WW II, where he received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Secrist Mutispaugh; a grandson, James Haden Chittum, Jr.; a brother, James Roscoe Mutispaugh ; and a sister, Pearl M. Donald.
He is survived by four sons, Ronald R. Mutispaugh of Jacksonville, Fla., Donald L. Mutispaugh of Stafford, James W. Mutispaugh of Ladysmith, Theodore R. Mutispaugh of Glasgow; two daughters, Linda F. Mutispaugh, Brenda G. Mutispaugh , both of Philadelphia, Miss.; two step sons, James H. Chittum, Stephen David Chittum, both of Buena Vista; five step daughters, Jane C. Wheeler, Margie T. Coffey, Brenda C. Moran, Linda Faye Chittum, Deborah C. Montgomery, all of Buena Vista; a brother, Fred C. Mutispaugh of Buena Vista; a sister, Mildred M. Potter of Lexington; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 31, 2000, at Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
