Mrs. Martha Chappell Massengale, 86, of Greenville, Ga., died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at her home.
A funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13 at graveside in the Greenville Cemetery, with the Rev. Jonathan Porter officiating.
Mrs. Massengale was born February 22, 1916 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Aaron and Lucy Wilson Chappell. She lived in Meriwether County most of her life, was a member of Union Baptist Church in the St. Marks Community, and was retired from West Point Pepperell Manufacturing Co. in LaGrange. She was the wife of the late Aubrey H. Massengale.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Joanne Kennedy of Columbus; step-brother, Aaron Young of Newnan; three grandchildren, Bert Kennedy of Louisville, Kentucky, Mrs. Suzanne Hanley of Columbus, and Mrs. Sally Young of Moreland; six great-grandchildren, Scottie Hanley, Michale Hanley, Gray Hanley, all of Columbus, Rebekah Young, Sarah Beth Young, and John David Young, all of Moreland; two step-great-grandchildren, Robert Young and Jane Young, both of Selfridge, Michigan.
