Obituary

Miss Elizabeth Conkling (sic - Conklin) died at her home on Genesee street last Wednesday evening, August 27, from a stroke of paralysis suffered only two days before. It was a very severe stroke which fell upon her as she was doing light work about her home. It was the second shock, following one she suffered some two years ago. She was a daughter of Patrick Conkling (sic- Conklin), who before the civil war owned a nice little place near Fort Hill in the town of Seneca, where he raised a large family of children. Their's was a bounteous home, where visiting friends were made welcome. We think there were five daughters and two sons. Of these but one now survives, Mrs Hannah, widow of Samuel Palmateer, who since the death of her husband has made her home with her only sister. Miss Libbie was aged about 66 years, and was a very kind hearted woman, an obliging and genial neighbor, especially so in times of sickness and distress, and she will be sincerely mourned.
