MIDDLETON, Tenn. – Charlie C.W. Ward Cutberth, 91, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Community Hospice House in Verona. He was born Nov. 7, 1921, to Samps and Sallie Emmons Cutberth in Tippah County. He was a retired supervisor in the construction industry and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II. He was a horse trader, and he loved raising and trading horses.
Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at McBride Funeral Home Chapel in Ripley with Bro. Jesse Cutrert officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery in Walnut. McBride Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include one brother, Howard Cutberth and wife, Bobby of Middleton, Tenn.; special caregivers, Norris Cutberth and James Albert Cutberth, both of Walnut; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Chunn Cutberth; his parents; seven brothers, Claude, Herman, John, Gamble, Russell, Tom and Bud Cutberth; and seven sisters, Frankie Nodal, Velma Estes, Vernice Martindale, Ida Freundenburg, Lela Gately, Lula Mae Cutberth and Lee Earl McMillin.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Norton, Jimmy Marshal Cutberth, James Albert Cutberth, Milton Cutberth, Bobby Drewery, and Jimmy Stewart.
Honorary pallbearers are Bland McKeown, Roy Cutberth, Johnathan Drewery, Terry Hodge and James Fritz.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
